Oprah Winfrey Star Joins Glee!

A young Filipino singer discovered by Oprah Winfrey has landed her biggest break - she has joined the cast of Glee.

Teenager Charice will be a regular in the second season of the hit TV show, according to the Phillippine Daily Inquirer. The singer's manager, Grace Mendoza, tells the publication, "Charice will soon join Glee... and not just as a guest, but as part of the cast in a new season."

The news marks a remarkable week for the 18 year old, who landed the number eight slot on last week's  Billboard charts in the U.S. with sales of 42,985 for her self-titled debut.

She says, "This has been the most exciting week of my life." Charice became an international sensation when a fan posted a performance of the young star taking part in a talent contests in Southeast Asia online.

After Oprah took an interest, songwriter David Foster offered to produce her debut album. Glee won't be the teen's first screen appearance - she featured in Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.
