DANGERPLAN GUNMAN 'BITTER AFTER PANTERA SPLIT'The gunman who killed former PANTERA guitarist 'DIMEBAG' DARRELL ABBOTT was angry he and his drummer brother had split up the metal group, according to an eyewitness.Abbot was shot at point blank range on stage at a nightclub in Columbus, Ohio, on Wednesday night (08DEC04) while performing with DAMAGEPLAN, the band he and brother VINNIE PAUL formed after Pantera split last year (03).The gunman - thought to be 25-year-old NATHAN GALE - leapt on stage at the ALROSA VILLA venue, shot at Abbot and Paul and turned on the crowd before being shot dead by police. Abbott was among five people killed.An unnamed fan claims the gunman shouted at the pair, accusing them of splitting Pantera, before opening fire.He writes on Damageplan's website, "I was up close to the stage on the side where Dimebag was playing. "Then I saw the guy jump out of the crowd onto the stage. He was yelling something about how 'You broke up Pantera, you ruined my life. What about PHIL? (former Pantera frontman PHIL ANSELMO). He needs heroin money.'"Then I saw the gun and he shot DBD (Dimebag) right in the head. When DBD went down he kept shooting. Then he turned around for (bandmember) BOB ZILLA, then Vinnie.
"The whole time I thought it was part of the show. I had blood on me I was so close."
