He is a man of many talents, apart from being tall, dark, hansom and a beautifully talented singer he can speak six different languages and like the crooners of the past hopes to become a movie star.
FemaleFirst hold your breath because romance is back, forget Patrizio stealing Robbie’s crown, if you’re not careful this man will steal your heart!
Your debut album ‘The Italian’ has been a long time coming, taking almost 18 months to make – are you excited for it to finally be released?
Of course, if you work hard on something for a very long time and it’s going to be released you want to know what will be the result. So of course I am excited, especially for me as an Italian boy who has had this idea for a couple of years and found this person who believes in it ( music producer, Christian Seitz) and now its going to be released in England, it means a lot to me
I am very, very excited.
What words would you use to describe the album?
Romantic, Dolce Vita and timelessYou worked on the album at The Abbey Road Studios where the Beatles recorded – how was that experience?
Well, we went to The Abbey Road studios and recorded with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The venue itself, for me is like being in a museum because it was where the Beatles worked …… I am a spiritual person and I believe in this um, something in the air and there was something in the air in that studio. Again, using this word exciting, it was exciting to work at the studio.Everybody who has worked there is a super star and here is Patrizio Buanne singing his little macaroni songs.
Who were your idols growing up?
My idols – well my father played just Italian music at home. I grew up between Naples and Vienna because my father had a Italian restaurant. At home my father made tapes for his restaurant, all the Italian songs, just Italian music it was crazy nothing but Italian music. We had a Dean Martin record just because he recorded an Italian song, so imagine just Italian music.Later I discovered the 50’s and 60’s rock ‘n’ roll music – Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Jerry Lewis, Little Richard, Elvis, Roy Orbison. The 50’s, I love everything to do with it.
I love the Cadillac’s, Marylyn Monroe, and James Dean. Later I played with my friends Sepultura, Metallica, Iron Maiden but I realised that I really loved the glamorous 50’s.
The album is mostly about love and passion, loving someone and being loved – does love play a big role in your life?
I am not a very dramatic person but what I like about life, the way I live is I like to do everything with passion. I like shouting, crying and you know, kissing the woman very much – everything with passion! When I sing, I want to tell it loud and from the heart. Passion is very important. This album is about Dolce Vita, being a little bit romantic, moody. People are embarrassed about being romantic some people think it’s cheesy. I love being cheesy because I think everybody has something in themselves.
I read a line about Dean Martin once where he said: “Woman wanted him, men wanted to be like him.” This is what I want to achieve with my album that men say, ‘wow, he gives roses to the ladies, I want to do that too.’
Did you ever in your wildest dreams think you would have the opportunity to bring a slice of Italian romance into the homes of the UK and the rest of the World?
In Italy there is a tradition of love songs and I consider my self, well, my father was the ambassador of the Italian kitchen I want to be the ambassador of Italian romance and Italian music.I want to give the people an alternative, if they have had enough of the world, they have the chance to put the world on pause and have some romantic music. Being Italian doesn’t always mean pasta and movies like ‘The Godfather’ there is a romantic side to it. I want to bring this to the people….. I want to make the people happy.
You attended the Brits last night – how did you find your first British awards ceremony?
I had a very good time, the best was at the after show party. I got to meet Gwen Stefani and Robbie Williams who I already met about a year and half ago.Didn’t he ask you to do a duet last time you met?
Yes, I met him in Budapest. He heard me singing and said he would possibly like to do a duet with me on his new swing album.Who else would you love to duet with?
Tom Jones or Celine Dion, Elton John or maybe Paul Mc Cartney. I like the old school voices, the legends.Maybe with a beautiful lady a diva like Barbara Streisand or Beverly Knight. I want to do a duet with people who are doing it for fun – not just because of the hype or it makes sense.
With your sophisticated style, impeccable grooming and unique sound – do you ever feel like you don’t quite belong in the celebrity trash culture of today’s society?
Today we don’t really have any idols. The problem is now days we miss a little bit of the real stars. I am very happy we have people like Robbie Williams and Gwen Stefani because these people are real stars. No, I don’t feel out of place. I think there is a wide range in the music industry. People call me the new Paul Anka, the new Engelbert Humperdinck, I am Patrizio. I am filling a gap doing what others are embarrassed to do. I am a crooner, I am living the style.
I don’t come from a casting show I was not invented. My real name is Patrizo Buanne, my record is Patrizo Buanne and it is all real.
With Valentines Day just around the corner, love is definitely in the air – what is the most romantic thing you have every done for a lady?
I had a girlfriend who was always crying because I couldn’t be with her. In Italy if you give a girl a chain of pearls it’s like you are giving her back the tears she cried for you. So I said I am giving you this chain because I am sorry that you had to cry all those times that I had to leave. She cried again because she was happy. I think I have to buy a farm where I am fishing pearls.Valentines day you can have once a week – this I what I want to achieve. I am very thankful to people like Jamie Oliver that men want to cook now. I hope that some woman will be happy that because of Patrizio men are buying flowers or kissing woman’s hands.
So I consider myself the singing Jamie Oliver.
Do you have a message for the 2.5 million unique and wonderful female visitors at femalefirst.co.uk?
I want to know what woman think because I want to give it to them – We think that it’s a mans world no, it’s a woman’s world. Romance is back. There is so much negativity outside we should be interested in making the world better. You want to have somebody who makes you happy. Happy! Romance! Dolce Vita!
‘The Italian’ is released on 28th of February

Patrizio, keep up the good work! You have class and style, romance will never 'die' as long as you sing your songs ... Viva La Dolce Vita! Waiting for your next album.
