Doherty Admits Drink Driving And Drugs Charges

British rocker Pete Doherty is facing a possible jail term after pleadingguilty to drink driving and drug possession on Friday (12Jun09).

The Babyshambles frontman was arrested in the early hours of Thursday (11Jun09) after police officers spotted a car being driven erratically as the rocker left a gig in Gloucester, south west England.

He was charged with dangerous driving, drink driving, possessing Class A drugs, and driving without a licence or insurance.

Doherty appeared at Stroud Magistrates Court, Gloucestershire on Friday(12Jun09) when he confessed to every offence except dangerous driving, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The singer was released on bail following the brief hearing, and was swiftly escorted away from the courthouse by police before being bundled into his manager's car and driven away.

Doherty must return to court on 11 August (09), when officials are likely to set a trial date for the dangerous driving charge.
