Chuck D of Public Enemy has filed a $100m lawsit accusing bosses at his record label of owing him money from royalty payments.
The hip-hop icon, real name Carlton Douglas Ridenhour, claimes executives at Universal Music Group have underpaid him and other artists in regard to digital downloads and ringtones.
He filed a class-action lawsuit against them, claiming chiefs owe their artists 'hundreds of millions of dollars in royalties', according to Reuters.
A statement from reps at the Universal Group reads: ""This complaint suffers from serious flaws and weaknesses, not the least of which is that the claims asserted are not appropriate for class treatment. We will vigorously defend against it."
