Reggae pioneer Ranking Trevor has died after he was knocked off his motorcycle in Jamaica.

The 60 year old was thrown from his motorbike and crushed by a car on Tuesday, his Brother Robert Grant tells the Associated Press.

Ranking Trevor, real name Maxwell Grant, helped popularise a form of Jamaican Rap known as 'toasting' in the 1970s, and he charted in the U.K. with tracks including Caveman Skank and Three Piece Chicken and Chips.

The star is survived by his mother, eight siblings and 15 kids.
