Rapper Nasty Nas' Film-making efforts lands him Sports Emmy

Rapper NAS has joined JAY-Z and U2 among the winners at the prestigious National Sports Emmy Awards, triumphing for his work as a director on a documentary "Survival 1" about the civil war in Liberia.
The Sports Emmy Awards recognise outstanding achievement in sports television coverage.The National Television Academy has presented the Emmy as a reward for excellence in Sports broadcasting.
The Grammy-nominated hitmaker helmed, produced and scored Survival 1, about two amputee war victims who form a championship soccer team, and it debuted on sports channel ESPN a year ago (May 10).
His filmmaking efforts have now earned him top props from members of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and he is honoured by the recognition.
Nas says, "After all these years of making music, I am honoured to have this be the first award I ever won of this magnitude. An Emmy before a Grammy. Crazy s**t!"
Superstars Jay-Z and U2 were unveiled as winners of Sports Emmys on Tuesday (03 May 11), while Nas' accolade was announced at the end of the week (06 May 11).
