Red Hot Chili Peppers have postponed their US tour.

I stayed out on tour with broken bones in my feet from jumping off the bass drum, which is kind of agonising, and it led to me being in a bad state of mind.

The 'Californication' hitmakers have been forced to delay a string of shows in their home country after frontman Anthony Keidis crushed bone in his foot and had to undergo surgery.

They said in a statement: "Red Hot Chili Peppers regret to announce that they must postpone the start of their upcoming U.S. tour due to multiple foot injuries sustained by Anthony Kiedis. Anthony recently underwent surgery to remove a crushed sesamoid bone and correct a detached flexor tendon in his foot and is expected to make a full recovery."

The group have already posted new tour dates on their website, with the run of shows now kicking off on March 29 in Tampa, Florida, just over two months later than the original opening date of January 20.

The 49-year-old rocker has been plagued with foot problems since the group's 2007 'Stadium Arcadium' tour.

He said recently: "I stayed out on tour with broken bones in my feet from jumping off the bass drum, which is kind of agonising, and it led to me being in a bad state of mind."
