Ricky Martin has dismissed suggestions his romance with Latino TV presenter Rebecca De Alba was little more than an experiment to test his once-secret homosexuality, insisting the romance was "very real".

The Livin' La Vida Loca singer came out as a gay man last year (10) after a decade of speculation about his sexuality, which was addled by his onoff romance with De Alba.

In a new VH1 Behind The Music special about the star, Martin admits he really was in love with the TV personality and she reveals she never suspected her boyfriend was gay.

He says, "Sometimes you can't explain what it is exactly that attracts you to someone, that amazing magnetism. "Everything that I felt at that moment was pure.

but, at that moment, it felt real; it felt amazing".
