Rihanna wasn't bubbling with excitement when an American footballer lavished a $10,000 bottle of champagne on her during a night out - she sent it back because she didn't know who he was.

The Umbrella hitmaker was celebrating the end of a traumatic week in which she finally opened up about her beating at the hands of ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, by hitting the Las Vegas club scene at the weekend.

While later partying at the exclusive nightspot The Bank at Wonderland in Los Angeles, the star received the pricey bubbly from Jets player Braylon Edwards - only to refuse it, according to New York gossip column Page Six.

A source tells the publication, "She didn't know who they were, so she sent it back." But Edwards wasn't left red-faced for long - he introduced himself to the Bajan beauty and they chatted, according to his rep.
