Phil Varone, former Skid Row drummer believes quitting music saved him from death because he was “pushing the life envelope” with his partying lifestyle.
The drummer quit in 2004 to pursue a career in acting and stand up comedy.
The drummer turned comedian had admitted it was time for a lifestyle change because he was always partying throughout his rock star career.
He told Playgirl magazine: “Being alive! I was on a non-stop course that ultimately would have led to death. I was pushing the life envelope everyday and I'm very surprised I made it through.”
“Also, by focusing on something other than music, I'm enjoying new ways of entertaining people. Writing, acting and comedy are a few of my new passions and I look forward to what the future may bring,” He added.
