Rodney Atkins Ordered to Complete 30 Hours of Community Service

Rodney Atkins has been ordered to complete 30 hours of community service following a domestic dispute with his now-estranged wife Tammy.

The singer was booked on suspicion of domestic assault in Tennessee last November (11) after police officers were called to the couple's home toinvestigate reports suggesting an argument had turned violent.

The star was released on bail and he filed for divorce from his spouse that same month (Nov11).

On Wednesday (08Feb12), the musician appeared before a judge in Williamson County and struck a plea deal with prosecutors allowing him to avoid jail time, reports TMZ.com.

Assuming Atkins remains out of trouble for the next 12 months and logs his community service hours, the star's case will be dismissed and his misdemeanour charge dropped, because he voluntarily completed anger management, alcohol and drug evaluations.

The Take a Back Road singer tells The Tennessean, "I am so thankful forall those that chose to withhold judgment while keeping my family and I in their prayers. God Bless. Onward and upward".
