A spokesman for Russell Simmons has denied reports the hip-hop mogul has had $15,000 (£7,500)-worth of jewellery stolen, insisting it was one of his New York employees who was the unfortunate victim of thieves. The unnamed worker had a suitcase of jewels - including three diamond rings, a pendant, three sets of earrings and two bracelets from the Simmons Jewelry Company - taken from the hallway of an apartment on Bleecker Street on Saturday (07Jun08).A source tells the New York Post's gossip column PageSix, "Crime-scene investigators were swarming the area". New York City police have confirmed they are investigating a theft.Initial reports claimed Simmons had been targetted by the assailants, but the rap entrepreneur's representative claims the jewels belonged to the employee.
