Russell Watson's Brain Surgery To Jeopardise Career?....British opera star Russell Watson faces a massive struggle to return to his profession as a tenor - because doctors were forced to cut open his mouth in an operation to remove a brain tumour. The singer underwent emergency brain surgery at the private Alexandra hospital in Cheshire on Wednesday (25Oct07), after falling ill during a recording session. Surgeons managed to successfully remove the re-growth of a previous benign tumour, which was removed last year (06), and he is said to be recovering well from the operation. But Watson's manager, Richard Thompson, fears the 40-year-old will experience huge difficulties when he attempts to sing again. He says, "They could not follow the same (surgery) route as before because there was too much scar tissue."The mouth is always risky especially if your career is singing. This is why we know this recovery will be a long haul this time".
