Sam Sparro is "surprised" by the success of his recent single.'Black and Gold' has been in the top 20 in the UK singles chart for 16 weeks and the singer says he didn't expect such lasting success.He told gossip website DigitalSpy: "That definitely is surprising. It's just hung around for so long. I think it's one of those songs that grows on you. "People who didn't necessarily like it when it first came out, well, it's finally won them over. It creeps up on you."Sam also said he isn't worried he has hit his peak early, and vowed to continue making music regardless of his record sales.He added: "It's nice to have the chart success, but that's not really the point, is it?""It's not the point for me. It's brilliant to have a great smash hit like 'Black and Gold', but at the end of the day I just want to put out work that I can be proud of and stand next to."I just want to keep creating music that I enjoy playing and listening to."
Sam's next single, '21st Century Life' is released this week.
