Weiland was kicked out of rock band Velvet Revolver in April 2008 and has since been touring as a member of the reunited Stone Temple Pilots.

He told Reuters in November 2007 "It's a weird thing. You make a lot of records, write a lot of songs, but all of a sudden you go into a whole different vein, and it's a little bit scary to dive into".

News of Weiland's release comes nearly one year after his ex-wife Mary Forsberg published her own autobiography, Fall to Pieces, last October (09), revealing details about the break-up of their marriage and the rocker's drug use.
