Kings of Leon were ready to scrap hit single Sex on Fire - before a heavy drinking session helped change the rockers' minds.
The smash song claimed top spot in the U.K. singles chart in September (08), becoming Britain's best-selling download of all time in the process.
The track also achieved similar success throughout the world, topping the charts in Australia, Finland and Ireland.
But frontman Caleb Followill has revealed he was initially desperate to ditch the single from the group's Only By The Night album - until he bowed to pressure from record label bosses following a boozy night out.
'This is the only time we're going to listen to you.' And it's done things that no song has ever done. Luckily I got voted outKings of Leon
He tells Nme magazine, "When we had three songs too many for the album, we were taking our picks as to which songs shouldn't make it. Sex On Fire was my pick. Then, the label (bosses) flew out and sat down with us and said,
'We think 'Sex On Fire' should be the first single, and they gave us a load of reasons. We were drunk, so we said, 'This is the only time we're going to listen to you.' And it's done things that no song has ever done. Luckily I got voted out. It's funny!"
