Pop superstar Shakira returned to her home country of Colombia on Wednesday (04Feb09) to open a $6 million (£4 million) school funded by her charity foundation.The Grammy Award winning singer was accompanied by President Alvaro Uribe as she unveiled the school in her hometown of Barranquilla.The 13,000-square-metre school will cater for 1,800 students and is the fifth funded by the singer-songwriter's foundation Pies Descalzos, which means "barefoot" in Spanish.Located in La Playa - one of the region's poorest areas - it will focus on bilingual and art education for under-privileged students.0Comments | Be the first to comment!
