Sir Paul McCartney Backing Rage Against the Machine For Christmas No 1

Paul McCartney might have appeared on The X Factor final on Sunday, but it looks as though he’s still on the side of good, honest music when it comes to picking a Christmas number one as he is backing rockers Rage Against The Machine.
Speaking to Sky News, the Beatles star said Rage Against the Machine pipping Joe McElderry to the number one spot would prove a point, saying; "If he (McElderry) goes to No 1 then good luck to him. He's just some kid with a career ahead. I've got nothing against that, but it would be kind of funny if Rage Against the Machine got it because it would prove a point."
I wonder what ‘point’ he means by that? Maybe that rock fans deserve to see their music genre recognised in the charts at long last? Or perhaps that boycotting the charts can work sometimes?
So, who’s going to take the number one slot do we think? Will HMV be flooded with people buying the single tomorrow, or can RATM fans hold their own and take rock to its rightful place at number one?
Either way, the gap between the two singles is getting considerably smaller, with Killing In the Name Of only just ahead of The Climb by a "few thousand" copies. How exciting!
