Mike Mills says there will be no solo album from his former band-mate.
Former R.E.M. star Mike Mills is convinced singer Michael Stipe will shun offers to record a solo album in favour of a career in sculpture and photography.
The 'Everybody Hurts' hitmakers stunned fans last month by announcing they were splitting up after 31 years together.
Guitarist Mills plans to continue working in the music industry and wants to collaborate with other rockers on new tracks - but he's certain Stipe will step away from rock 'n' roll.
Asked by Mojo magazine if the singer will release a solo album, Mills replies, "Michael Stipe? I doubt it. I don't think that's where his passion lies. I think he wants to be in the visual arts."
He adds, "I imagine Michael will do a lot of sculpture and photography. I think those are his big interests now."
