Rap superstar T.I. has reportedly asked a judge to push back his upcomingjail sentence - so he can secure a cell in a minimum-security prison near his Georgia home.
The Live Your Life hitmaker is due to turn himself in to authorities bynoon on 26 May (09) to begin a 366-day prison term, which he was handed in March (09) following his 2007 arrest for illegal weapons possession.
He is set to serve time at the low-security Federal Correction Institution in Forrest City, Arkansas.
But on Thursday (21May09) the star - real name Clifford Harris, Jr. - allegedly filed court papers requesting a ten-day delay, which he will useto find a penitentiary closer to his home in Atlanta, Georgia.
T.I. will be eligible for early release if he behaves himself while incarcerated - and could walk free after serving just 10 months.
