Cruz Launches Songwriting Competition

R&B star Taio Cruz has launched a competition to discover a talented songwriter and vowed to perform the winner's track on the finale of U.S. reality TV show American Idol.

The Dynamite hitmaker has written the opening lines to a tune and he's invited aspiring musicians to submit lyrics to finish his verses.

The winner of the Coca-Cola sponsored competition will get their song heard by millions when Cruz performs the finished piece during the Idol final next month (May11).

He says, "Songwriting can be an individual journey or a co-operative effort, and I've done it both ways. But creating a new song, with the input of music fans and in partnership with Coca-Cola and American Idol? Now that takes the experience to a completely new place and I'm ready to get it started".
