Simon Cowell's ex-girlfriend Terri Seymour has been granted a temporary restraining order against the woman who assaulted her at a taping of the American Idol finale last week (19May09).

Janice Thibodeaux has been charged with misdemeanour assault after attacking the TV presenter in a move motivated by footage of Cowell pretending to throttle his fellow Idol judge Paula Abdul on the hit U.S. show.

Seymour, who was not treated by medics for any injuries, filed for a restraining order in a Los Angeles court on Tuesday (26May09), and the request was granted on Wednesday (27May09).

Seymour also feared the woman would again assault and further harass

In the legal documents, Seymour's lawyers state, "(Thibodeaux) attacked (Seymour) from behind, putting her into a headlock, wrenching her neck and choking her with the full force of her 200 pound frame".

Seymour also feared the woman would "again assault and further harass".
