The 'New York City Cops' rocker also told Teletext's Planet Sound that he has just written his best ever material - but isn't sure what to do with it.

He added: "A week ago, these three songs came to me that I just know are the best I've written.

"What I'll do with them depends on the other Strokes, but I feel after my two solo records that I'm writing better songs in a natural way. I've never written songs like them."
