Mccabe Sentenced to Community Service

The Zutons rocker Dave Mccabe has avoided a jail term for assaulting a stranger outside a nightclub earlier this year (10).

The singer was convicted in September (10) on one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm for attacking Peter Appleby in Liverpool, England in February (10).

Appleby claimed the star headbutted him and broke his nose in the drunken brawl.

McCabe was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday (29Oct10) and ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work as punishment.

He was also told to pay the victim $2,250 (£1,500) in compensation and hand over $5,250 (£3,500) in court costs.
