Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke is urging his fans in the U.S. to swing their support behind President Barack Obama's plans to make America a more environmentally-friendly nation.
Yorke is a well-known campaigner for green issues, with his band launching the first energy-saving tour last year (08) - aiming to reduce their carbon footprint as they performed around the world.
I have been reading how the oil industry is investing millions of dollars in a PR campaign against it! How utterly dumbass is that? How do these people look their children in the eye?
And the singer is convinced Obama's climate change bill, which is currently being scrutinised in Congress, can be pushed through and made law - if it has enough support.
Yorke is encouraging Radiohead fans in the U.S. to add their names to the Stop Global Warming petition, which already boasts more than a million signatures.
He writes on the band's Myspace.com page, "Currently there is talk of a climate change bill in the US similar to the one we have passed in the U.K. That's a Big deal. I have been reading how the oil industry is investing millions of dollars in a PR campaign against it! How utterly dumbass is that? How do these people look their children in the eye?"
