U2 to play at American Idol finale

U2 will give the AMERICAN IDOL a taste of what megastars look like when they perform during the show's finale on Wednesday (25 May 11).
 

The Irish rockers, who picked up the Top Touring Artist Award at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night (22 May 11), will hit the stage for the big show a night after performing in Salt Lake City, Utah.
    
  The band’s performance is part of the episode that decides whether it is Scotty McCreery or Lauren Alaina who will be the season 10 winner of American Idol.
    
During the Idol finale, country singers Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina will discover who is the season 10 winner of American Idol. 
    
 U2's longtime manager, Paul McGuinness told News Quod that the band is currently rehearsing for the performance this week. Since the band has not released any new records recently, it is suspected they will be performing one of their many hit songs.
