Disney singeractress Selena Gomez has been appointed an ambassador of the United Nations Children's Fund.
The teenage star joined forces with Unicef last year (08), speaking outon issues such as children's rights, and now she has been rewarded for her efforts - officials have made her an official representative of the charitable cause.
Thrilled and honoured Gomez is determined to use her fame to make a difference.
Every day, 25,000 children die from preventable causes
She says, "Every day, 25,000 children die from preventable causes. I stand with Unicef in the belief that we can change that number from 25,000 to zero".
Gomez's representative adds, "(She has) now taken on an official role as an ambassador. She will be involved in educating, advocating, and fundraising".
Her first mission as a Unicef ambassador will see Gomez visit Ghana, where she will learn about the organisation's child survival programmes.
