Van Halen have been ditched from a concert in Canada after government officials realised they can't afford to put it on.The Charlottetown show was to have taken place this September, but rising costs that would be subsidised by the provincial government have left officials balking.Tourism Minister Valerie Docherty said that initial government investment in the event rapidly climbed from $1.6 million (£800,000) to $4 million (£2 million) and that: "It's not the best use of taxpayers' money".Van Halen completed their initial reunion tour last month.
