Velvet Revolver have scrapped plans to turn their search for a new singer into a reality TV show. The rockers have been without a frontman since firing Scott Weiland at the beginning of April (08), and were toying with the idea of turning their hunt for his replacement into a TV talent contest.Drummer Matt Sorum reveals several TV producers pitched the band the idea for the show.He says, "We felt that wasn't the right forum for us to do it, so we got some ideas and we should have that news in a couple weeks... and I think it's going to surprise everybody".Meanwhile in seperate news Velvet Revolver's drummer Matt Sorum has a newfound appreciation for former Guns N' Roses bandmate Axl Rose, after his troubled experiences with axed frontman Scott Weiland.Guns N' Roses stars Sorum, Slash and Duff McKagan parted ways from frontman Rose to form Velvet Revolver with Scott Weiland in 2003 - after years of tension with the November Rain singer. But the rock supergroup axed Weiland in April (08) after a series of infighting, insisting he wasn't "100 per cent committed" to the band. And Sorum had such a hard time on the road with Weiland before he was fired, he began to think fondly of his time with Rose.He says, "I actually have a newfound liking and love for Axl Rose. I've said a couple of bad things about Axl, and I think they've come back to bite me in the ass.
"The one thing I know about Axl Rose, as much as a d**k as he was at times, the stadium was usually sold out! A little difference between those two guys.
I'm talking 50,000 not 5,000".
