The man behind the U.S. Air Force Reserve's new TV ad has apologised to White Stripes star Jack White for the similarity of the tune in his commercial to the rocker's Fell In Love With A Girl.

It wasn't my intention, truly, truly, truly... (but) as far as I'm concerned, I'm responsible for this. Just me

White and his record label executives threatened legal action in a statement released after the new commercial aired during the Super Bowl on Sunday (07Feb10).

In an online post, White and the record label bosses wrote, "We believeour song was re-recorded and used without permission of the White Stripes, our publishers, label or management.

"The White Stripes take strong insult and objection to the Air Force Reserve's presenting this advertisement with the implication that we licensed one of our songs to encourage recruitment during a war that we do not support".

And now Kem Kraft, who created the music for the new ad, is accepting full blame for the controversy. He says, "I'm sorry it sounds the same. It wasn't my intention, truly, truly, truly... (but) as far as I'm concerned, I'm responsible for this. Just me".

Meanwhile, the commercial has been removed from the Air Force Reserve website.
