John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono is to receive the Hiroshima Art Prize for her efforts in spreading world peace.
The 78 year old will pick up the accolade next summer (12) at a special ceremony in her native Japan, following in the footsteps of previous recipients including fashion designer Issey Miyake.
The singer/artist has long been an active campaigner for peace and the abolition of nuclear weapons.
An exhibition of Ono's avante-gard artwork will be held in Hiroshima in conjunction with the prizegiving.
