The singer formerly known as Cat Stevens insists his spiritual reinvention as Yusuf Islam doesn't mean he suffers from a "split personality".The Morning Has Broken singer turned his back on music and became a devout scholar of the Islam religion in 1978 after almost drowning off the California coast. And he says a lot of the things he dreamed about while living as singer Stevens have come true in his new guise as humanitarian Yusuf Islam. He explains, "There's not really a split personality. There is, however, a cultural difference between what I represented as Cat Stevens to what I represent today as Yusuf Islam.
