The Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman has some tracks stockpiled which he thinks would be perfect for the One Direction star when he decides to put together his debut solo album.

Anthony, 53, told The Sun newspaper: "We've got 20-30 songs that didn't make the album and are on the cutting room floor. "There's one that could be great for young Harry."

So far, the hunky 22-year-old pop star has written songs with Johnny McDaid and Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol, which Gary says will "surprise" fans of the 'Dunkirk' actor.

He previously told BANG Showbiz: "Gary and I have both written with Harry. Gary wrote on the second to last One Direction album 'Four'. We have worked with Harry he is a really great guy. I think he will surprise people. I don't know much about what he's going to do or his plans but he's a really lovely guy."

And quizzed on whether Harry will have a chance as a solo artist, Gary, 39, said: "I think he will be phenomenal solo artist. But whenever that happens you will know. People are in for a surprise."

When Harry does take the plunge he will be following in the footsteps of ex-1D star Zayn Malik and his bandmate Liam Payne.

Meanwhile, the 'History' hitmaker's bandmate Niall Horan has reportedly signed a major deal with Capitol US.

Just weeks after Simon Cowell predicted that "loyal" Niall would join Syco as a solo singer, Niall reportedly decided to move to rival Universal's Capitol because they offered him more money.

A source said: "Simon has made no secret of his expectations for Niall to stay loyal to him and has been desperately trying to keep him as a solo act with plans to turn him into a Justin Bieber style artist.

"They've worked together closely since day one and have always had a strong relationship, but Universal offered a lot of money.

"Simon's likely to be so frustrated Niall has gone to a rival."
