Aston Merrygold is planning to launch a solo career after his band JLS go their separate ways later this month.

The singer's group JLS are to go their separate ways once their tour ends later this month and, while bandmate Marvin Humes has landed a presenting job on 'The Voice', J.B. Gill is looking forward to working on his farm and Oritse Williams is ready for a break, Aston is already thinking ahead to his musical future.

He said: "I'm going to carry on with my music. I want to start releasing some solo material because I've been writing in the studio for quite a few months now. I'm looking forward to getting my work out there."

The quartet - who shot to fame on 'The X Factor' in 2006 - admit life feels "weird" knowing they have no certain plans for the foreseeable future.

Oritse said: "It's weird because for the last seven years, every single day has been mapped out for us. From the beginning of January, we won't have that any more. We're all going to have to figure out what we want to do next."

However, the band are adamant their decision to break-up is the best thing for them because they don't want to be remembered as boring.

Speaking to OK! magazine, Marvin explained: "We never want to be one of those bands that people get tired of, a group that can't get a top 10 album any more or sell out an arena.

"We're ending with an arena tour so we're going out on a high. And the best part of it all? We're still the same best friends we were when we first started."
