June Tabor Dominates BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards

June Tabor swept the board at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards on Wednesday (08Feb12), scooping four top honours.

The 64 year old took home the Folk Singer of the Year prize for the second time in her career, while her collaboration with The Oysterband earned her a share of the Best Group title.

Their record Ragged Kingdom was named Best Album and they also landed Best Traditional Track.

American Pie hitmaker Don McLean and The Dubliners were honoured with Lifetime Achievement Awards at the 13th annual prizegiving, held in Salford, England.

Other winners at the ceremony included multi-instrumentalist Tim Edey (Musician of the Year) and folk-rockers The Home Service (Best Live Act), while the Best Original Song prize was shared by singers Bella Hardy and Steve Tilston.
