Bette Midler has revealed that she'll be releasing a new studio album titled 'It's The Girls'.

The singer has returned to the studio to record her first LP in eight years, paying tribute to girl groups throughout the years gone by.

She commented: "A long time ago I fell in love with voices in harmony. In particular, the sound of female voices singing together.

"There were so many great girl groups in those days, I still listen as avidly as I ever did. This record is a small attempt to honour them for all the joy they brought to me and the world."

Groups included in the tracklisting are those such as The Ronettes and The Vandellas, and the album will see Bette reunited with long-time collaborator, producer Marc Shaiman.

An accompanying tour is to be detailed soon. The album is released November 17.
