Bruce Springsteen confused fans during a show in America on Saturday May 17, continually calling out the wrong state throughout the show.

The 'Dancing in the Dark' hitmaker was playing a gig at the at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut, but left the audience baffled by shouting out to "Massachusetts" throughout the concert.

According to New York Daily News, the audience corrected him by shouting back "No!" - after he got the state wrong a number of times.

Springsteen, who still thrilled the crowd with a three and a half hour-long show, then realised his error and gave a shout-out to the Connecticut Food Bank volunteers who were collecting donations at the gig.

The 64-year-old star was also joined onstage by the E-Street band, who were recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, including longtime guitarist and former 'Sopranos' actor Steve Van Zandt.

Springsteen opened the show with 'Racing in the Street' and perform countless well-known hits, including 'Radio Nowhere'. The concert, along with another on the Sunday at the same venue, were the last two dates on his 'High Hopes Tour'.

Meanwhile, a representative for the singer revealed he has no plans to head out on the road again yet.
