The chart-topping electronic dance duo - comprised of pals Alex Pall and Drew Taggart - teamed up with the Coldplay frontman on their duet 'Something Just Like This Year', which was unveiled at the BRIT Awards last Wednesday (22.02.17), and producer Alex says they unleashed the 39-year-old rocker's secret love for dance music by collaborating on the EDM track.

Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, he shared: "He was a raver in another life, he likes to dance. There's a spirit of dance music that you can find in his lyrics, a tone, the same feeling you get in the special dance songs.

"I can see why he's drawn to it in the same way we are drawn to all of his music."

The 'Closer' hitmakers also revealed they did everything they could to ensure they got to keep the song.

Alex explained: "We were willing to fight him to death for it.

"We only hung out one time, but it was sick to chill with some of our idols and hear his opinions. We delved into his world."

Meanwhile, the pair have revealed they could be working with U2 frontman Bono on some songs he's shared with them, which has weirded them out because they are such huge fans of the 'With or Without You' singer.

Alex's sidekick, Drew shared: "Getting Bono texts is weird, we met at the same time as Chris.

"He's got crazy charisma, he'll walk into a room and when he leaves everybody feels like he was only talking to them.

"He showed us some new songs that sounded exciting.

"He's been nothing but cool but we would be happy to offer our services. We're just students of Bono and Chris Martin."

The 'Selfie' stars previously said their session with Chris inspired them to be "better" people and they enjoyed speaking to him about their future.

They told BANG Showbiz: "You leave Chris Martin wanting to be a better person haha... He is magnetic and so talented, to be able to shoot the s**t talk about his music, our music, the future it was something."
