The electronic duo - made up of brothers Howard and Guy Lawrence - have confirmed via a handwritten letter that they will largely be taking it easy in 2017 besides "a few special things".

The note, which has been posted on Twitter, reads: "Thank you all so much for the support over the last 7 years.

"We were 15 and 18 when we began this incredible journey and its been filled with shows bigger and better than our childhood minds could have ever imagined, amongst many other unbelievable moments and achievements.

"We really can not thank every single one of you enough. You changed our lives for ever and enabled us to do what we love best on this planet.

"This year, we are only going to be doing a few special things, including the return at our festival Wild Life and a few other bits we can't mention just yet. (sic)"

But the siblings added that their main priority for 2017 was to enjoy some time away from the spotlight.

The note continued: "For the most part however - we're going to be taking some time out and enjoying some much needed rest.

"We will be back! ... but until then ... Lots of love, Guy & Howard xx (sic)"

The Grammy-nominated duo have enjoyed incredible success since the release of their debut album 'Settle' and previously admitted that working with Sam Smith has been a particular highlight.

The duo collaborated with Sam on the single 'Latch' and more recently, on the track 'Omen' from their second album 'Caracal'.

The siblings previously said: "To be honest, Sam is the only person from the last record that we thought we might use on this one again, purely because he's such a good friend of ours.

"It would feel like a waste to not get him on board. We work with him all the time anyway and I'd say he's probably our favourite person to write with in the world."
