Ellie Goulding has admitted she's "shocked" that Jessie J isn't up for any prizes at this year's BRIT Awards.

The singer admitted she thought she'd see her fellow popstar up for at least one of the awards at the event - to be held on February 25 at London's O2 Arena - because of her "incredible" voice.

Speaking to Capital FM, she explained: "I was surprised by that because she's an incredible pop star.

"It sounds weird saying that, but she is. She nails it and she still has one of the most incredible voices in the world. So that shocked me. But I don't know how the voting works!"

Jessie released her third studio album last year but has been snubbed from all categories, including the MasterCard British Album shortlist which includes no female acts.

Rising to fame following her 2011 win of the BRITs Critics' Choice Award, she has since been nominated in the 2012, 2013 and 2014 BRITs.

Meanwhile, Ellie last year picked up the British Female Solo Artist prize, but is pleased she's not eligble for the award this year as she found it too stressful in the past.

"I knew that I wasn't eligible for anything this year and that was actually such a relief," she added. "It's nice to not have to worry. If I do go it means I get to go and chill out and see my friends!"
