Foo Fighters managed to wow Prince Harry as they helped close the Invictus Games last night.

The rockers were introduced by the royal as he gave frontman Dave Grohl a warm embrace before their set kicked off the final performance of the closing ceremony.

In his final address of the Games, Harry apologised for making the crowd wait to hear from the band, and even poked fun at the lead singer.

He said: "I can hear Dave Grohl screaming at me from behind," and later joked: "Why do you want to hear him anyway? He's old!"

The crowd took to their feet as Foo Fighters played an 11-song set, including hits 'Best Of You' and 'Times Like These'.

Dave said he and his fellow bandmates chose the Games as one of their first big UK performances for a few years, because it was a special occasion and Prince Harry personally asked them to headline.

"It's been a while since we played in this country. So I got a call from a friend who rang me up and he said, 'Can I give Prince Harry your number'? So I said OK - everyone else has it." said Dave.

"This next song goes out to all the heroes tonight." he said during the performnace, before kicking off 'My Hero'.

Speaking to the crowd he said: "Thank you very much for making this one of the most special occasions of our lives. I can't wait to come back and play for you again. It won't be too long."
