Snow Patrol's Gary Lightbody and Johnny McDaid have both worked with the One Direction star - who is currently busy preparing for his first movie role in Christopher Nolan's 'Dunkirk' - in the stuff and they are convinced when he comes back with new tunes they will be very different from the tracks he recorded with the boy band.

Speaking at the Ivor Novello Awards in London on Thursday (19.05.16), Johnny, 39, revealed: "Gary and I have both written with Harry. Gary wrote on the second to last One Direction album 'Four'. We have worked with Harry he is a really great guy. I think he will surprise people. I don't know much about what he's going to do or his plans but he's a really lovely guy."

And quizzed on whether the 22-year-old pop hunk will have a chance as a solo artist, Gary, also 39, said: "I think he will be phenomenal solo artist. But whenever that happens you will know. People are in for a surprise."

When Harry does take the plunge he will be following in the footsteps of ex-1D star Zayn Malik and his bandmate Liam Payne.

Zayn's debut solo LP 'Mind of Mine' has been a worldwide hit and he became the first UK male solo artist to debut at number one on the Billboard 200 album chart with his track 'Pillowtalk'.

And he will also make his UK live debut at this year's Capital Summertime Ball on June 11 at London's Wembley Stadium.

As for Liam, he features on a song by Wiz Khalifa and Juicy J called 'You', although it is not yet known if it will be his first solo single as it has only been leaked online so far.

The rest of the band, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson, are yet to do anything new musically.
