5) Madonna – 2012

We start by throwing it back to one of the most opulent shows the Super Bowl has ever played host to. The extravagant ensemble of Givenchy costumes matched the opening number ‘Vogue’ perfectly as well as the understated yet classic projections of Vogue magazine covers. One of the most stand out moments for me was the choreography of Madonna’s performance. The breakdancing elements had the ‘wow’ factor of something you would see on Cirque du Soleil! Guest appearances from Nikki Minaj and M.I.A, Madonna mixed all her classics with her newer material to create a slick and iconic Super Bowl performance.

4) Beyoncé – 2013

It was the Destiny’s Child reunion we could have only dreamed of. The most amazing thing about Beyoncé’s performance is that you can watch her do a full out dance routine whilst still delivering a note perfect vocal. Every single element of Beyoncé’s performance is always so incredibly effortless and this makes it such an immersive experience for the crowd.

3) Bruno Mars – 2014

In 2014, Bruno Mars proved that he has a vast range of talents that range as far as being able to shred on the drums. Bruno Mars has always been an amazing showman; he has a natural flare for getting the crowd engaged and behind him. Bruno featured a collaboration with the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Although this was an unlikely pairing the result was a match made in heaven. Bruno’s performance included a touching tribute to the American military which featured messages home from service men and women. This was accompanied by Bruno’s ‘Just the way you are’.

2) Coldplay – 2016

One of the most colourful Super Bowl halftime shows there has been. Coldplay’s halftime set payed tribute to some of the best performers around, dead or alive, including Prince, Michael Jackson and U2. Their performance featured the most iconic duet between Beyonce and Bruno Mars. ‘Formation’ led into ‘Uptown Funk’ which then lead to the most incredible crescendo featuring a gospel accompaniment. This, for me, was one of those moments where you can’t help but get goosebumps.

1) Lady Gaga – 2017

Lady Gaga’s Super Bowl performance was iconic for many reasons but the one that sticks out was the use of aerial wires. Lady Gaga still managed to deliver a perfect vocal whilst suspended on wires about 25 metres in the air. This mixed with a cocktail of all her greatest hits was a knockout performance!
