The rapper felt relieved when Eminem's 'The Marshall Mathers LP 2' took home the accolade for Best Rap Album at this year's Grammy Awards, because if she'd won it for 'The New Classic' she thinks she would have received a lot of abuse.

Speaking to LA radio station Power 106, she explained: "I did not want to win that award. My speech would have been like, 'F**k this. I don't want it, take it. Get it away from me'.

"People already hate me enough. I do not need to be hated any more."

However, she finds it "ironic" that people were pleased to see Eminem pick up the prize because he's also Caucasian.

"I found it to be kind of ironic. It was because I'm white, therefore I'm appropriating culture, but then Eminem won it - who's white and won it many times - and they didn't seem to say anything about that. I suspect it was just because they dislike me."

Her honesty comes just a few months after she Azealia Banks engaged in a very public war of words, with Azealia accusing Iggy of copying black artists and describing it as "cultural smudging".

Banks said: "I don't want to see no more white people f***ing whipping people in no more movies. Because my black story is deeper than the boat ride over, do you know what I mean?

"So this little thing called hip-hop that I've created for myself, that I'm holding onto for my dear f***ing life. I feel like it's being snatched away from me or something.

"The blackness is gone."
