The 'Fancy' rapper penned a song for her LP 'Digital Distortion' which she thought would be perfect for the 19-year-old New Zealand songstress.

However, the duet never happened because Lorde was too busy working on her own record, but Iggy is sure they will work together on a hit in the future.

Iggy, 25, explained: "I almost collaborated with Lorde on this album. I sent her the song and it didn't get done in time, but it's one of my artistic goals to collaborate with her. There's this one song I wrote for the album but it needed a female singer and she was my number one. She was going to do it, she was totally keen, but she was too busy with her own album.

"I hope it can happen, if not on this album then another. I think she's awesome."

Iggy has collaborated some of the biggest music stars around, including Charli XCX, T.I. and Rita Ora, but she is also known for her beefs with her pop peers - most famously her never-ending feud with Azealia Banks.

The Australian rapper - who is engaged to Los Angeles Lakers basketball player Nick Long - thinks people "criticise" her because they are envious of her success.

She told Remix magazine: "I think a lot of times people don't understand my humour over here and people think it's me being bitchy. The artists that criticise me don't have as much success as me, so I think it gets them riled up, because they're not selling as much as I am.

"I honestly think that's what it boils down to ... I don't want to say it's just people being jealous, but I do think the level of success I've had and how many fans I have and the amount of records I sell does have a lot to do with it."
