Foals

Foals drummer Jack Bevan is worried eating lobster on holiday will ruin his rocker image.

The sticksman recently went on vacation to Sardinia where he decided to sample the shellfish delicacy, but he is fully aware dining on fine food is not very rock 'n' roll.

He told BANG Showbiz: "We've just been on holiday, first holiday of the year - I want to Sardinia. It was great. I got a Pedalo out, I ate a lot of fish, I ate lobster for the first time - doesn't do a lot for the image but it's f***ing delicious."

It seems the Jack and the rest of the group - frontman Yannis Philippakis, guitarist Jimmy Smith, bassist Walter Gervers and keyboard player Edwin Congreave - needed a break from each other.

Jack and bass player Walter both booked trips to the same village in Sardinia without realising the other was going but neither bothered to meet up.

Jack explained: "Me and our bassist totally, independently booked trips to this little village in Sardinia and we didn't even meet up. We were both too busy."

Foals were nominated for the Barclaycard Mercury Prize this week for their third album 'Holy Fire' and are up against LPs by several other acclaimed acts including David Bowie, Arctic Monkeys, Rudimental, Jake Bugg and James Blake.

The group are thrilled to be nominated for the prestigious accolade but don't fancy their chances of taking home the gong at the ceremony on October 30, 2013.

Jack said: "We're up against David Bowie and the Arctic Monkeys, it's looking pretty bleak for us! But at the same time it's lovely for us to be in this position - standing with goliaths of modern rock and great pop groups. I think we're getting more confident with every record now, we're feeling really confident in what we're doing. We don't feel like the naughty boys at the back of the class anymore."
