Jay Z is facing legal action over his 2009 hit 'Run This Town', after supposedly using a sample without permission.

TufAmerica - a record label - have revealed they're suing the star for the use of single syllable sample "oh", allegedly taken from 1969 Eddie Bo single 'Hook and Sling'.

The rapper hits back at accusations, with a statement from his lawyers which says: "Even if one short word - or the recording thereof - could possibly be deemed original enough to warrant copyright protection, this fleeting and generic phrase is neither quantitatively nor qualitatively significant."

Jay is now waiting to see if their motion to dismiss this lawsuit will be accepted.

Earlier this week there were reports that Jay Z and his wife Beyoncé were working on a collaborative album.

The pair are said to have plans to go into the recording studio, likely to make music for an LP release later this year or in early 2015.

DJ Skree made the claim on his Dash Radio show: "I have confirmed and talked to a couple sources."
