Justin Bieber is currently in the UK as part of his Purpose World Tour, but has caused controversy following his first night in Manchester after he told fans off for screaming during the show.

Ahead of the performance of two ballads from his latest record, Bieber urged the crowd: "Try and stay as quiet as possible. You can scream as much as you want afterwards, but while I'm singing try and stay quiet."

Later in the night he also stopped halfway through a monologue to accuse the crowd of ignoring him, saying: "I just thought I could have a moment to say something. I can cut the bullsh*t if you want. I'm trying to engage but if you guys don't want to I'll play the music."

This isn't the first time he's given a UK crowd a ticking off, after he called fans at his Birmingham show earlier this week "obnoxious".

At that show he demanded: "If, when I'm speaking, you guys could not scream at the top of your lungs. Is that cool with you guys? The screaming is just so obnoxious.

"If we could just scream after the songs? Enjoy the songs, then scream, screaming is awesome. Screaming is fun."

His fans - otherwise known as Beliebers - have of course jumped to his defence and given their own opinions as to why Justin wants to speak to the crowd.

Others however, including Hollyoaks actress Nadine Mulkerrin have slammed him for being 'rude':

Bieber's tour continues throughout the UK with two more dates in Manchester tonight (October 21) and on Sunday (October 23), before returning to Birmingham and then going to Sheffield and Glasgow later in the month.
