Kaiser Chiefs use Nerf guns to keep fit on tour.

The 'Parachute' hitmakers - comprised of Ricky Wilson, Simon Rix, Nick 'Peanut' Baines, Andrew White and Vijay Mistry - like to have fake battles backstage with the toy gun which fires foam ammunition.

Speaking to Absolute Radio's Christian O'Connell, frontman Ricky admitted: "We've got loads of Nerf guns, we've got a case ... a flight case full of them. It's a good way of keeping fit, we find."

The craze has been part of their fitness regime over the last six months and works best at venues with "lots of rooms and corridors", and the 39-year-old vocalist joked that if Nerf was around in the 60s, The Beatles wouldn't have split up.

He quipped: "It's kind of like a Laser quest set up but you change allegiances to whoever's annoying you within the band. If only The Beatles had had Nerf they would have stayed together. Stay Together - new album from the Kaiser Chiefs."

Ricky says he was the one that got the band into Nerfs and his influence led to his bandmate Simon spending over £100 on the toys.

Ricky recalled: "Well, I was the instigator of the Nerf war. I was the Trump of the whole thing. I had my finger on the button. So, I started it and then everyone's kind of got addicted. Simon started being a bit hands-off, cos he's a pacifist but then he went to Toys R Us immediately and spent about 120 quid, which is a lot of Nerf."
